Gone but not forgotten
This past winter of 2020-21, NJ Transit took down the Records Building. Per the discussions with the City of Hoboken and our Historic Preservation Commission (the HPC), most of the bricks, roof treatment and other key elements are said to be in storage at a NJ Transit facility in the Meadowlands.
There has been general talk, but coming only from the City and the HPC, about rebuilding the structure within the Hoboken Yards complex, roughly across from the Neumann Leather complex and 5 blocks west of its prior home. Crucial to that suggested site will be the involvement of LCOR, the designated developer. To date we have not heard that they want to pursue adaptive reuse at their site.
